I was just thinking...

About gemstones and tangled threads.

Do you know what these two items have in common? Well just in case you may not I'll tell you just before I go to bed ok,,,

No matter how valuable a gemstone is, before it is found it is dirty, dull and needs to be cleaned, cut and polished before anyone will want it, a gemstone that is found to have a "star" is of the highest value provided it is cut and set right.

But before being cut, polished and set, to the untrained eye the stone is just another rock. It takes a skilled and dedicated person to bring out the beauty in an uncut in the rough dirty old rock.

It is the same with a pile of old tangled yarn it takes someone who is dedicated and determined to untangle the yarn, and then make a beautiful blanket or other item to give to someone, or to keep to decorate your own home.

In other words anything that will have lasting value needs someone to be determined and dedicated to see a project through to completion.

Many people like pretty things but are not willing to put forth the effort to make something beautiful or to make something for others to treasure.

So anyway, just some random thoughts, I'd like to share with you all tonight...

And to encourage creativity in your lives I'll post a couple different links this time, about gemstones, and about quilts, (patterns of course) and at least one crochet link,,, so tonight it will be a variety...

First is a link to associates and groups who can tell you all about gemstones, mining and more, its pretty interesting.,,

Wasn't able to post crochet pattern links yesterday...

So I will just post some now, then I seriously need to clean house or at least think about it.
Laundry needs to be done and put away, floors need to be swept and mopped, and clutter disposed of...

I just don't feel like cleaning today, I have a headache, and am just a little stressed about a few things. Perhaps things will get better one of these days just not sure when.

So anyway let me get some pattern links for you all to look at, maybe it will brighten your day and give someone inspiration for up coming holidays or gifts to friends and family...

http://www.happyyellowhouse.com/  *** This one has a really pretty crochet quilt on the front page I did not look thru the whole site but based on this heart quilt it is probably a good site, I want to make to make this one, if  I can some day.***

This is pretty and would be a good gift for a child I think...

http://www.angelfire.com/va/thevelvetpumpkin/Bear.html

Now one more, because I want to post at least three links for everyone...

This one is kinda neat, it could be used to put small beach toys in, or general shopping, but I think it would need a liner if using it for smaller items that could fit through the stitches...

Hope you all enjoy these links today. :)

We are going to the library...

Just waiting on everyone to decide to get ready...

Ok, I'm up really I am...

Up later than intended, but I am up. It is hard to get up when everyone else in the house is not wanting to get up.

So any ways, hows everyone today? I'm fine, just a little sick on my stomache again. Not sure why.

But I need to get busy, I think I'll get ready and go to the library this afternoon before church time. I have a few books to return.

I also need to mop floors and clean up the kitchen some more...

Well I need to get busy so I'll talk to you all after awhile I'll try to post more pictures after a while.

Hope you all have a great day. :o)

And a picture of my ds who is currently serving overseas...

I miss him a bunch, it's hard to believe he is all grown up.I pray for him every day. I have to trust God to keep him safe. And trust that God is able to direct all of his steps.
I think you really learn to trust God more when you know with certainty there is nothing you can do to trully protect your child. And right now no matter how much I may want to I can not stand in front of any bullets or mortars that may come his way. Especially seeings as how he is on the other side of the world...
But I know that the same God who is God here is God there, and God is able to provide and protect, and it is in God I am trusting to keep my ds safe and sound. Whether it be on this side of heaven or the other side...
I am very proud of my ds, I believe he is doing well in his life so far, I hope he continues to do well, and that he remembers to always put God first no matter what. Even when it is hard.

My dd fixed the camera,yeah!

So here's some pictutres...

First a clothespin bag. I think it looks bright and cheerful. I made this today.
Same bag different background.
And the afagan I am currently working on...
I think my daughter takes excellent pictures.

Something to think about since the camera is not going to work tonight...

I wanted to post something I was thinking about recently, often times there have been those related to me who have murmured or complained about what I could or could not do, or what I should or should or should not do. Sometimes it has even been me complaining and murmuring about situations that I can't fix.

So I was reading a little from the Bible the other day, and this verse stuck out to me, and I wanted to first quote the verse and then write here the note I had made. Perhaps it will be helpful to someone else as it was to me...
*********************************************************************************

1 Corinthians 10:10
Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured and were destroyed of the destroyer.

********************************************************************
Now my thoughts on this verse as I was reading this the other day...

When someone complains and or fusses about where God has placed them in this life, it is the same as giving place to the devil. And is basically questioning the authority of God in your life.  What I mean is God opens and closes doors for His children, and just because we don't like something does not mean that God has forgotten about us.
I believe God allows circumstances into our lives in order to draw us closer to him. But when we murmur or complain about the things God has allowed into our lives we are breaking fellowship with God. And not trusting God to work everything out for good in His time.
It is easy to serve God when things are going right and everyone is seemingly our friend. It is much harder when you must put action to the words you say.
For instance many say that they believe and trust God to meet their needs, but saying you believe and really believing is two very different things.
God does want our complete and total trust and obedience to Him, but He also wants us to be able to show the world our faith.
The way  we show our faith is to not complain when God places us in a position where no one can help us but Him. It can be very difficult to trust God when every single thing in our lives is just plain hard, and it is easy to murmur and complain, because of all we can see that is wrong.
But when we take the easy way out murmuring, complaining and fussing about our circumstances. We are in affect saying we don't trully believe and trust God.

Now I don't believe God wants us to sit around doing nothing at all to straighten out circumstances we can control, but I do believe that God wants us to trust Him to work everything out for good, even when we can't see anything good about our circumstances.
And God does not want us to murmur and complain as those who are lost do, because they have no hope. Those who are saved, should shine brightly for Him at all times, even when times are not so great.

This verse was very encouraging to me because it basically says, not to worry or complain because God can take care of all our problems. Just because we can't see something does not mean God can't.

A couple more verse's that are helpful to me a lot, is:

 Philippians 4:7-8
And the peace of God which passeth all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report: if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

***********************
Ok, now my thoughts on this, remember the first verse I mentioned about how some were destroyed because that they murmured and complained?

Well in effect this verse goes with it because it is the opposite, it is saying not to worry about what we can't fix, and to not dwell on the ugly things and hard things that come into our lives, but instead to trust God, not to worry about anything, but to trust God, and He'll keep our hearts and minds, in other words the things we can't handle He will, all we have to do is trust Him.
He is also telling us to meditate on things that are good, things that are decent, on things with virtue. There is no virtur on meditating on situations and problems we can't fix. It causes stress which will lead to many health problems, and will cause more problems as we will then need to aquire medical care for our stress induced medical problems. Which leads to large bills, which leads to more stress, and so on, a never ending circle that continues to get worse over time,. And accomplishes absolutely nothing.

God placed flowers and colour in this world to give us beauty to see and meditate on, if we can find nothing else. God could of made everything plain, uninteresting and dull. But instead he gave us beauty in plants and rocks, and mountains, and stars, and rainbows, and even in clouds. Even a drop of water shines like a diamond when the sun reflects on it. Think of the early morning dew when the sun first comes up...

Many things in this life we can't control, and many times hard things come into our lives, but nothing comes into the lives of one of God's children lest it has already been filtered through His loving hands.

The hard things are not meant to hurt us, it is meant for our benifit, it is meant also for the benifit of those who do not know Him.

When life is hard just remember no one see's Christ in you so much as when you must walk by faith, holding tightly to the Master's Hand...

Ok, I'm doing a quick search for free patterns

Just for all of you, and I found a site that has many patterns, it even has a link that tells how to convert knitting to crochet. So I am going to post this link first. Oh, and it even tells how to make broomstick lace, I only learned this a couple years ago.

I hope you enjoy this link...

http://www.knitting-crochet.com/crochet/index.html

And another sit I just found I am sure you'll love if you like to crochet, I just looked at the site a little, and found dozens and dozens of patterns. Everything from toys to afagans, to useful items around the house...
I am saving this site so I can look through it again more indepth.

http://www.allfreecrafts.com/crochet/index.shtml

I just found another really neat site, I could spend hours browsing for inspiration and ideas of things to make some people are so creative and talented...
Anyway, I hope you like tonights last link as much as I do...

http://www.allcrafts.net/crochet/crochettoys.htm

I think I will look at some of the patterns there as the camera is being found...(first the batteries needed charging and now the camera has been misplaced...it'll get better, I know it will.. I just have to keep telling myself so...)

Ok, I'm back...

I made a clothespin bag, and it looks pretty.:) I'll post a picture of it after a little bit, we are waiting on the batteries for the camera to charge.

So you all will just have to wait a little bit to see the clothespin bag I just made, today. It turned out a lot better than I expected. So I am happy about that.

I am going to try to get a couple more made tomorrow if possible, I have the resources to make two more. I am thinking I'll make another cloth one and then make one crochet.

My dd just made a cake and is bringing me a piece of it so I'll be back in a few minutes with more crochet links for everyone to look at...

An Encouraging scripture to meditate on before I get busy...

(2 Peter 3:9 KJV)

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

http://www.freecraftunlimited.com/flower-hot-pad.html   *This one looks complicated but it is pretty.

I'll try to find some more patterns for you tomorrow if I can. But tonight I have some things that must be done...

Today has been a little long, and tiring

And I am still not done with everything I needed to get done in the kitchen. I wish I could just get everything done faster.

I am going to try to at least finish up the cabinet and floor so I can get started on a laundry bag I wanted to get made today, But first I think I will drink a cup of tea.

I'll have my daughter take a picture of the afagan I am working on in a little while and I'll get that posted. Then when I get the laundry bag made I'll post a picture of that. I am thinking I'll add a few crochet flowers to the laundry bag so it will be a little different.

I'm going to draw out a picture of what I'm thinking then if it looks ok, I think I'll go ahead with that tonight. Especially as it is likely I won't get a lot done tomorrow as I have a relative coming to visit who loves to tell me how everything I do is wrong. I probably should not of said that but it's true and this relative just does not know any better than act in the way she does so I just have to bite my tongue and not say anything to hurt their feelings reguardless of how they make me feel...

Well, we won't dwell on the negatives in life we will look into just making some crochet flowers in a little bit to decorate a laundry bag. I have some pink yarn that will make some pretty flowers, now I just need to look at the cloth I have and see what I have that will match pink.

Of course I'll need to wash, and dry the material I have and iron it, but after that I think it should be pretty easy going. At least I hope so.

Well I'm nearly finished with my tea so I guess I need to get to looking for some material to match the yarn I have, so I can get that done soon...

A motivational quote to help you get started today...

An idea not coupled with action will never get any bigger than the brain cell it occupied.

Arnold Glasow

So it's 8 am and no one is up...

I need to get everyone up so we can get some things done today. I need to get some cleaning done, and try to get a clothespin bag made, I am thinking of adding crochet flowers to the finished bag.
I should have that done later today. I'll try to post a picture when it's finished.

I don't have to babysit today so I should be able to get a lot more done today. The boys have a good bit of school work to get done today, but since their dad is home maybe he will be able to help them some while I finish up on a few things.

The shelves in the rolling cabinets are finally fixed, so I will be able to get things put away neatly. I also need to clean the refrigerator.

Well I won't get nothing done today if I don't hurry.

But before I go I wanted to post a couple of links to free crochet patterns online, so I'll do that, then get started with everything else...

Below are some links I think some of you may like...

https://www.lionbrand.com/cgi-bin/register.fcgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.lionbrand.com%2Fpatterns%2Fckc-dishCloths.html  *This site you have to register but there are a lot of patterns, and it does not cost anything to register.

http://www.learntoknit.com/may05_apron.html  *This is a really pretty apron in my opinion, and would be an easy beginner's project, and useful.

http://www.craftyarncouncil.com/projects/project_more.html#crochet  *Here you will find several projects to make, including a baby afagan with cross-stitch animals on the blanket, it looks like it would make a great baby shower gift.

Well now I need to get busy and get people in here up...it is raining here today and everyone wants to sleep...

Free crochet patterns I found, I hope some of you find these inspiring,,,

http://www.freevintagecrochet.com/afghans.html

http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/

http://www.freepatterns.com/

I found a bunch more free patterns but I'll just post three free pattern links tonight as it is getting late, and I don't want to overwhelm anyone.

There are so many pretty things that can be made using a crochet needle and a little yarn...

So many ideas, so many things to make, so little time to do anything...

A couple of old photo's of items I have made.

A Pink Baby Afagan.

I love pink and made one just like this for me. lol
I did sell this one to a friend locally who said she really liked it. She wanted it for her granddaughter.
Pink is one of my favorite colors, I need to make another one just like this one.
But currently I am working on one that will be soft-white.

This is a blue kitchen potholder set, I made this to sell, and sold it to a friend of my husband. His friend bought this for his wife as she collects dolls of all kinds, and likes the color blue.
The potholders are usable because they are made out of cotton yarn and double thick. The Indian doll face is just a decoration though.
I am planning to make several of these to sell in Nov.

This is a set of plain yellow and white potholders. These are good for every day use, and people really seem to like these, I need to get more of these made.

In different colors. I have a picture of a round set also.

Here's a picture of the round one's I had made a good while back.
These potholders also make very good hot pads, for hot pots or pans fresh out of the oven.

I have made a lot of different things at times, but failed to take many pictures so I will just have to start taking more pictures so you all can see some of the things I have made.
